Looking Ahead

it’s been a while. I hope you’re all doing well, staying safe and finding moments of light. I just wanted to touch base and share some things that i’ve been reading, listening to, and ruminating on for the past few months. as we settle into the new year i’ve been focusing on finding a balance of welcoming the new without minimizing/erasing the past. there’s no doubt that we have a lot of work to do this year to keep the fight and momentum going that was ignited in so many of us last year.

re: vintage — i’ve been slowly and safely curating a drop for you and I can’t wait to share!!! keep an eye out in the coming weeks, but if you’re signed up for the newsletter then you’ll be the first to know when its dropping :-)

some photos, words & people

to inspire and soothe you

“we are a step into what feels like change, but continuously needs to be held accountable and properly considered to meet the needs of our most marginalized.

I wish propelling, stable and continuous reform in a country that pledges to be for us. but until then, we must dismantle all systems against our most affected.

here’s to the awakened. here is to those who have actively used their voices and actions for something greater than power. here’s to black and the indigenous, who’ve been gauging our future since day one.”

here’s what you helped me donate in 2020: $762.33

july - black lives matter toronto $195.43 cad

august - women's health in women's hands $135.18 cad

september & october - across boundaries $189.40 cad

november - afri-can food basket $140.40 cad

december - black health alliance $101.92 cad

15% from my next drop will be donated to start me up niagara, a local organization offer(ing) services to support people facing significant challenges such as poverty, homelessness, unemployment, disabilities, addictions and mental illness.

their goal is to provide opportunities for these individuals to help them increase their level of self-sufficiency and improve their quality of life.

their services range from community lunches, health care, and arts and gardening programs, to housing supports and employment development. Together, we are working to build a community where all are included..

I encourage you to look into similar organizations local to you, and learn about how you can support your community. you can also check out this page for more resources regarding black lives matter & how you can donate/educate/support/share!

here’s a peek into my year so far —

on my radar currently —

◑ quilts & patchwork

◑ funky glassware

22 - my current playlist

◑ ikebana

◑ vintage paper-thin graphic tees

◑ plywood interiors

◑ checkerboard everything

◑ vintage matchboxes

◑ Mary janes/loafers

◑ edamame w/ chili oil & furikake

lastly — journalling is super important to me. it’s a grounding ritual that I try to incorporate daily, no matter how short/long, or deep/brief. even just a little check-in with myself every now and then can do wonders for my mental health.

the just checking in series was created to catch up with friends and people that inspire me — styled after early 2000’s quizzes and my beloved moonlists journal. if you need a prompt for your journalling, here you go!
